The Triangle’s First Orthopaedic Ambulatory Surgery Center Officially Opens in Brier Creek
Date:2/27/2013

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) February 27, 2013

Triangle Orthopaedic Associates, P.A. officially opened a 10,000 square foot single-specialty surgery center dedicated to orthopaedics on February 26th, 2013. Triangle Orthopaedics Surgery Center (TOSC) is a $2.4 million orthopaedic ambulatory surgery facility with two operating rooms and will be located near the intersection of ACC Boulevard and Brier Creek Parkway in Raleigh.

TOSC is 100% physician owned, which increases the ability to improve safety, quality, access and value. TOSC will also be able to provide surgical services more cost effectively and efficiently than hospital-based or multidisciplinary operating rooms.

In addition, TOSC will offer the most effective geographic location in the Triangle and also improves access to ambulatory surgical services for all residents of Durham, Orange and Wake counties, including medically underserved populations.

"We're very proud to open TOSC," TOA President, Dr. Thomas Dimmig said. "It will make a great addition as a complimentary service to all that we offer at Triangle Orthopaedics."

Orthopaedic surgery is, by far, the most common outpatient surgical specialty in the Triangle. According to most recent data, orthopaedic surgery accounts for 25% of all outpatient surgical cases in the single-specialty service area. The projected number of surgery cases for TOSC’s first year is estimated at 2,400, nearly three times as many cases as projected by the other two competing applications. These statistics helped convince the state of North Carolina to grant TOSC's Certificate of Need, publicly naming it a demonstration project in 2011
