Health Plans, Including Medicare Advantage & Managed Medicaid, Bring The SCOOTER Store Services to Their Members

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In a move expanding its partnerships with health plans, The SCOOTER Store today announced agreements with 17 insurance companies that will allow nearly seven million people in their networks to obtain power mobility equipment from The SCOOTER Store when power wheelchairs and scooters are prescribed.

The new partnerships demonstrate The SCOOTER Store's move to expand their quality service and equipment to members covered by health plans across the country. To date, The SCOOTER Store has more than 125 partnerships with health plans that cover in excess of 160 million people.

"We are proud to be given the opportunity to work with these managed care members who need power wheelchairs and scooters," said Sharon Kleinfelder, Vice President of Corporate Contracting for The SCOOTER Store. "We believe these health plans see The SCOOTER Store as a reliable provider for their members with mobility needs. Our 17 years of experience, combined with our nationwide in-home service, make us an exemplary choice."

Some of the company's recently negotiated contracts, which include Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicaid Programs, now offer power wheelchairs and scooters to 3,900,000 health plan members in Ohio, 600,000 health plan members in Northeastern Pennsylvania, 700,000 in Washington, 565,000 in Michigan and 340,000 in New York. Other contracts provide coverage for an additional 475,000 members in states such as New Mexico, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Texas.

"Our Corporate Contracting Division is doing phenomenal work," said Doug Harrison, CEO and Founder of The SCOOTER Store. "We look forward to further growth in this area. We want to provide every American living with limited mobility with solutions they need to live free and independently in their own homes."
