Roskamp Recognized as Industry Leader by the Economic Development Council

in Manatee County

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Roskamp Institute today was presented with the 2007 Innovation and Technology Award by the Economic Development Council (EDC) of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce for the innovative and technological advances it has made within the scientific research industry.

"As a member of the Manatee County community, we are honored and proud to have received this award," said Dr. Michael Mullan, director of the Roskamp Institute. "We look forward to continuing to be a leader in the research community as we move toward finding drug therapies that will be useful in preventing and curing the various diseases of the mind that continue to plague people in Manatee County and around the world."

The award, which was presented to the Roskamp Institute today at the 2007 Industry Appreciation Award Luncheon, was given to Manatee County businesses for their progressive leadership, creative workforce and company growth. In 2008, Roskamp will be working with the EDC to create a more favorable environment to grow bio-tech research in the Manatee County area, through their 2008 work plan.

"For this particular category, the companies were nominated for their technology-oriented advancements and innovative developments," said Nancy Engel, executive director of the EDC. "Roskamp is a pure example of what this award is all about, especially with their groundbreaking research and successful progress in the bio-tech area."

The Roskamp Institute is a not-for-profit research Institute located in Manatee County and Hillsborough County, Florida, that is dedicated to understanding the causes of, and finding cures for, neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders and addictions with an emphasis on Alzheimer's disease.
