The Newest Health Trend for 2016? Organic, Natural Birth Control

A record number of women have made eating organic and switching to organic beauty products and cosmetics part of their 2016 goals. But there’s a surprising addition to their newly health-conscious shopping list - natural birth control.

In a recent survey, conducted by the makers of the Daysy fertility calculator, 78% of women shared that they have ditched the birth control pill and other hormonal birth control methods as part of a broader desire to create a healthier lifestyle for themselves. They are choosing hormone-free, organic, natural birth control for some of the same reasons they choose to avoid pesticides and chemicals in the foods they eat and the products they use - it’s for the good of their health.

A stunning 92% of the women surveyed said they had experienced unwanted physical, psychological or sexual side effects from using the Pill. 83% said that they would never choose to take a hormone-based birth control method again, because their past experiences were so bad.

Amongst the many health and wellness-orientated companies that will be attending the London Health Show this month, there will be present just one unique product that represents this emerging health trend - the Daysy fertility monitor. With an accuracy to rival the Pill - that’s 99.3% - this user-friendly, elegant device can go head-to-head with hormone-based birth control in its sheer simplicity and convenience.

With increasing importance to a growing number of women in their ‘20s and early ‘30s, the Daysy device provides an entirely natural, side-effect free, sustainable method of preventing pregnancy. 89% of the women surveyed said they specifically chose Daysy because it is hormone-free.

In fact, coming off the Pill and tracking the body’s natural cycles with a device like Daysy has become a gateway to embracing other healthy lifestyle trends. Women discover that listening to the feedback their body provides and analyzing the data inputted into the device makes them more health-conscious and vigilant about their other choices. Women then adopt healthier habits when it comes to their diet, exercise regime, the products they use, their sleep patterns, and stress management. In much the same way they use a Fitbit to track calories and miles run, and then adjust behavior accordingly, women are using technology to manage their fertility.

As the demand for organic food and organic beauty products grows, so does the demand for real alternatives to synthetic hormone-based birth control methods. More and more women are examining what they put in and on their bodies, and this includes the pills they are encouraged to take every day. Organic, natural birth control - with a suitably high-tech twist - is the health trend set to reach its peak in 2016.
