Agreement Provides Florida Patient Safety Corporation with a Scalable, Powerful System in Support of Patient Safety Improvement for its Member Healthcare Providers

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 11, 2009 -- The Florida Patient Safety Corporation (FPSC), the first organization in the U.S. to be federally certified as a Patient Safety Organization (PSO), has chosen Quantros software to support data aggregation and submission to the Network of Patient Safety Databases (NPSD).

Quantros Patient Safety Organization Manager (PSOM) was designed specifically to help PSOs meet the requirements that are critical to federal certification. The technology platform is a proven, field-tested system that simplifies the entire data collection and reporting process and facilitates ongoing analysis, interaction and patient safety improvement efforts between PSOs and their member healthcare providers.

Dr. Ali Rashidee, the Director of Product Management for PSOM, explains that PSOs were created because of increasing legal pressure for disclosure of patient safety events. "Liability pressure was stifling the ability of healthcare organizations to focus on improving safety in an environment conducive to honest disclosure and discussion," he said. As a result, the Patient Safety and Quality Act of 2005 was enacted to create a legal environment that encourages providers to alleviate patient safety issues by ensuring that their work with the PSO cannot be used against them in federal court or disciplinary pro
