The Lap Band Center Shares Two Tips On How To Maintain a Perfect Figure Post-Surgery

Although exercise is detested by many, patients are encouraged to practice some form of exercise to benefit their health. A little bit of cardiovascular exercise several times a week will do wonders for one’s health. Recommended exercises are swimming and cycling. Dr. Naim urges patients to partake in team sports to increase their willingness and motivation to exercise as team sports are known to be more fun and exciting than going to the gym. Other recommended forms of exercise are yoga and pilates. These stretching and toning exercises will help tighten the muscles and skin of those who lose weight quickly due to lap band surgery. The issue many patients face is saggy and loose skin, and yoga and pilates help tone and firm one’s body. Attending classes several times a week is a good start, although it is recommended that patients try to enforce this habit on a daily basis, not just for bodily health, but mental as well.

2.    Eating Well

According to Dr. Naim, Even though lap band surgery helps quicken one’s level of satiety, there is no denying that in order to maintain a svelte figure, one has to consume healthy food and stay away from processed and fried foods. Patients are advised to eat everything in moderation and to opt for healthier eating habits such as choosing to drink fresh juice or water instead of soda, and to order grilled instead of fried food. Loading up on whole grains such as brown rice and brown bread, and vitamin-rich foods such as fruits and vegetables are also encouraged. Although indulging in sweet and fried treats once in a while is fine, patients should keep in mind that these very same foods are probably what contributed to their obesity pre-lap band surgery.
