Date:8/4/2009

DALLAS, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Cooper Institute, the Dallas-based nonprofit research and education facility, now offers the Certified Personal Trainer (CI-CPT) certification exam nationwide through Pearson VUE professional testing centers. Previously only offered at The Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas, this expansion allows candidates to schedule and take the computer-based exam on a date, time, and location of their choosing.

"We are excited to transition our program from paper and pencil to computer-based test delivery," said Laura Fast, M.B.A., director of credentialing certifications, The Cooper Institute. "Our certification program will now be available on demand across the country, which will greatly increase access for our candidates."

This highly regarded certification is for the fitness professional who wants to help change the lives of healthy and medically cleared persons by conducting basic fitness tests, creating and leading physical activity programs, and supporting and motivating clients in healthy physical activity behaviors. With 40 years of fitness research experience, The Cooper Institute is a research, education, and certification leader in the physical activity field. A CI-CPT handbook that provides candidates with exam details, a practice test, and other preparatory resources is available online at www.CooperInstitute.org. The exam is nationally accredited by The National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Additional information about the exam, including special introductory pricing, is available online at www.pearsonvue.com/cooperinstitute.

"The Cooper Institute's reputation for providing premier certifications in the health and fitness industry along with Pearson VUE's experience as a leader in the computer-based testing industry will surely prove to be a winning combination in the development and growth of this certification," said
