The Chartis Group Elects New Partners: Four Healthcare Industry Experts Promoted to Principal

CHICAGO, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chartis Group, a leading healthcare advisory services firm, announced today the election of Matthew Cook, Pamela Damsky, James Karpook and Gregory Maddrey to the position of Principal. These industry experts will assist leading healthcare organizations in advancing their strategic, organizational and operational performance.

Matthew Cook has worked in the healthcare industry as a management consultant for more than 16 years assisting healthcare organizations to improve their strategic and financial performance. He has led numerous consulting engagements in the areas of operational and clinical performance improvement, economic and strategic planning, and post-merger integration. Most recently, Mr. Cook has assisted a number of academic medical centers to improve patient access and increase inpatient capacity. His efforts in this area have helped clients improve coordination of care, and to advance the overall patient care model. He has been a frequent speaker at national conferences on the topics of patient throughput and patient care redesign. Mr. Cook joined The Chartis Group in 2004 as a Senior Consultant. Prior to that, he was a Principal at the management consulting firm APM/CSC Healthcare. Mr. Cook also worked at CareSciences Inc, a healthcare technology company. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and a Bachelors of Science in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Pamela Damsky has more than 20 years of experience assisting healthcare clients nationwide to develop a broad range of strategic and operational initiatives. She has led numerous operations restructuring engagements ranging from strategic goal setting, organizational alignment, process and role redesign, communications, and performance monitoring; Ms. Damsky speaks frequently at national conferences on healthcare operations redesign. She also has led a variety of strategic planning engagements and due diligence reviews. Ms. Damsky joined The Chartis Group as a Senior Consultant in 2005. Prior to that, she served as a Senior Consultant at APM/CSC Healthcare. Ms. Damsky's experience also includes serving as Chief Operating Officer of Haelth LLC, the first of its kind freestanding complementary medical center. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, Cum Laude, from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

James Karpook has more than 20 years of experience assisting leading healthcare clients in a wide range of strategic and operational engagements. Mr. Karpook has led engagements in the areas of economic and strategic planning, operational and clinical performance improvement, integrated delivery system strategy, post merger integration, supply chain operations and financial turnaround planning. Mr. Karpook is a recognized leader in the area of performance improvement in hospitals and health systems. He has presented on this topic at national conferences, and has been published in The Integrated Healthcare Report on the topic of achieving benefits in integrated delivery systems. Mr. Karpook joined The Chartis Group in 2004 as a Senior Consultant. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Karpook was a partner at APM/CSC Healthcare. He holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelors of Science from Columbia University in New York City.

Gregory Maddrey brings over 16 years of management consulting and healthcare executive leadership experience to the firm. Through his consulting experience, Mr. Maddrey has led numerous strategic and operational consulting engagements for some of the nation's preeminent hospitals, academic medical centers, and integrated delivery systems. He has managed engagements in the areas of corporate strategy, service line development, system integration and patient care process redesign. Mr. Maddrey joined the firm in 2007 as a Senior Engagement Manager. Prior to joining the Chartis Group, he held consulting positions as a senior engagement manager at APM/CSC Healthcare and a Director at The Advisory Board Company's H*Works division. He also has extensive payer experience, having managed several health plans. His experience includes acting as President and General Manager of Aveta Health Illinois/North American Medical Management, a Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan, serving seniors with chronic conditions. He also served as Vice President at both UnitedHealth Group and Anthem/Wellpoint. Mr. Maddrey received his Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University, his Master of Business Administration degree with honors from Georgetown University and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy from Tulane University.
