About NMF

NMF is a nonprofit organization founded in 1946 dedicated to improving the quality of health care experienced by low-income and minority communities by increasing the number of underrepresented minority physicians and researchers in the United States. In 62 years, NMF has awarded $39 million in financial support to more than 28,000 minority men and women. NMF programs fund need-based and merit scholarships during the first years of medical study and experience-based opportunities for more senior students, increasing the number of culturally competent providers and addressing some of the cultural barriers that ultimately contribute to disparities.
