The CLEARsmile Dentistry Project Begins Fundraising Campaign on Indiegogo, Seeks to Improve Oral Hygiene

Is it possible that we aren't too far from throwing out our toothbrushes and floss in favor of the next advancement in oral hygiene? Dr. Igor Reizenson, a dentist from Atlanta, Georgia thinks it is very much possible and believes that he has the invention that can do it. The CLEARsmile device uses pressure washing and specially developed micro-bubble technology to clean the teeth and gums at every angle simultaneously. It uses a mouthpiece and micro-bubble tablets to blast and dissolve bad dental bacteria easily from every nook and cranny. As it turns out, Dr. Reizenson isn't the only person who believes that the CLEARsmile device is a great idea. In 2007, The History Channel's Modern Marvels put on a competition called the Inventor's Challenge. Out of 2,500 applicants, CLEARsmile was one of 25 chosen. The biggest challenge that the CLEARsmile project faces is funding. According to a study done by a Harvard Business graduate, getting CLEARsmile to the prototype stage will cost about $750,000. To raise the funds, Dr. Reizenson has turned to the crowdfunding site, Indiegogo.com. Crowdfunding enables people with a great business idea to ask the general public for the funding they need to set up or expand. The business sets a target for the money it needs to raise and explains how it will use the cash. People can then make pledges for small amounts of money in return for a reward if the target is reached. Dr. Reizenson has a number of incentives set up to encourage donors ranging from having a name on the CLEARsmile website to a vacation for 2 to Atlanta.
