In its second year, the Diversity Council Honors Award™ continues to grow in prestige and popularity as evidence by the twenty percent increase in applications with thirteen of 2009’s Top 25 recipients reappearing on the 2010 Top 25 recipient list.

The Diversity Council Honors Award™ was established by the Association of Diversity Councils to honor outstanding contributions and achievements of diversity council groups that lead diversity processes in organizations and demonstrate results in their Workforce, Workplace and Marketplace. Recipients of the award set the standards of excellence for US diversity councils. The collection of recognized results achieved by councils serves as a foundation for best practices for councils within and across industries. Implementation of these practices will position councils to be more influential and effective in their organizations.

A panel of independent judges evaluated online applications submitted by operational councils that have been in operation for at least two (2) years and who execute strategic tactics that originate from an Executive Council or Steering Committee. Award recipients may be a Company Council, responsible for achieving goals for the entire organization; or a council within a company that represents a specific line of business or business unit. Applications from distinctive multiple councils within one organization were allowed.

Applicants are evaluated on contributions and achievements in four categories: Demonstrated Council Results; Demonstrated Management Commitment; Measurement and Accountability; and, Communication and Education. Membership with the Association of Diversity Councils is not required to apply.

The Association of Diversity Councils, a division of PRISM International, Inc., is the premier resource for
diversity and inclusion council professionals and is dedicated to increasing the impact, effectiveness and recognition of diversity councils as an essential partner in developing, implementing and maintaining a strategic diversity focus within organizations.

Specifically, the Association offers exclusive member benefits including a membership network, best practice conversations, measurement tools, and various high-impact and interactive council training programs and services that assist councils and each council member to gain the competence, confidence, knowledge, skills, tools and strategies to reach peak performance.
