The American Cancer Society Announces the Pinecrest Relay For Life Movement Goes Green
Date:3/3/2013

Miami, FL (PRWEB) March 03, 2013

The Pinecrest-South Miami Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature program that was started by one person, who wanted to make a difference. Over the past 25 years, Relay For Life has emerged as a global event to raise funds for cancer research, programs and resources.

Relay For Life recognizes that cancer touches all lives, and offers a unique event that focuses on support and the positive progress made in the fight against cancer. On March 16 th, at Evelyn Greer Park-8200 SW 124th Street, Teams, Visitors, Sponsors and Volunteers will turn on the Green. There will be a festival event with food, games, bounce house area, local entertainment, and of course our very popular ‘doctor’ bands in the evening hours. The Silent Auction is always a hit, so stop by before 8pm to put in a bid. During the day visit the Team tents for fun and a little education. Each team sponsors a cancer to showcase a fact board to advocate for early detection, treatment, and sources of support. Park at Greer Park, or take the shuttle bus from Palmetto Sr. High lot on SW 120 th Street/SW 74th court.

At noon it begins with Survivors leading the Teams around for the first lap, the stage will feature students singing, dancing, cheerleading and exciting acts throughout the day. At 4:30pm the event will honor cancer survivors and caregivers in a ceremony, with a dinner to follow. At 9pm the lights go out and thousands of candles and torches circling the field will be lit to Celebrate and Remember the Hope in the Fight against cancer. Be part of the 2013 Relay For Life success with a visit. Find a place to give a few hours and or a few dollars. Join the event on March 16th as we recognize the heart and caring of our neighbors.
