Thailand’s Capital to Host the 14th World Gourmet Festival

(PRWEB) August 28, 2013

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is keen to raise awareness of Thailand’s reputation as the culinary capital of Asia. Consequently, TAT has joined forces with the Four Seasons Hotel in Bangkok to host this year's World Gourmet Festival. This seven-day event will start on 2nd September, and an excellent array of leading chefs, food experts and prominent wine makers will contribute to the festival, making the event an outstanding celebration of exceptional food and wine.

The World Gourmet Festival has quickly become the most prominent culinary festival in South East Asia, and it gives food lovers from across the globe a superb opportunity to sample the very best that haute cuisine can offer. The international lineup of participating chefs means that almost every cuisine in the world will be represented, and the itinerary includes delicious lunches, dinners and wine tastings, together with workshops, where participants can learn the skills required to prepare delectable dishes.

Proceeds from the festival will also help to support a very important charity; for each dinner ticket sold, 600 Baht will be contributed to the ‘Save a Child’s Life from AIDS Project’. The proceeds from the World Gourmet live auctions, which will take place during the festival, will also be donated to this charity. This very worthwhile cause was initiated by the Thai Red Cross Society, and it has the royal patronage of HRH Princess Soamsawali; the key objective of the charity is to prevent mother-to-child transmission of the HIV virus.

It is hardly surprising that TAT wishes to promote the World Gourmet Festival; not only does it support a very deserving charity, it also emphasizes the culinary quality and diversity to be found in Thailand. Indeed, most towns and cities have an excellent selection of restaurants that serve food to suit most palates. Also, there is a tradition of good quality street food, which gives tourists the opportunity to sample authentic Thai cuisine at very affordable prices. Even in small towns like Ao Nang, in the beautiful southern province of Krabi, there is a superb range of restaurants and street food available. What is more, guests staying at one of Krabi Riviera luxurious villas can also take advantage of an optional service provided by the company. For a very reasonable cost, guests can arrange for one of Krabi Riviera in-house private chefs to prepare and serve an authentic Thai meal in the privacy of their holiday villa.

In view of Thailand custom of offering warm hospitality, its reputation for excellent food, and the admirable intention of raising money for a worthwhile charity, the 14th World Gourmet Festival deserves every success.
