Texas Health Resources and Medfinders, Inc. Form Joint Venture to Recruit and Manage Contract Medical Professionals

New organization aims to meet challenges of recruiting and retaining nurses and allied healthcare professionals to improve patient care

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Texas Health Resources and Medfinders, Inc., have formed a joint venture designed to help Texas Health hospitals improve patient care by recruiting and retaining quality nurses and allied healthcare professionals. Medfinders, the parent company of Nursefinders, is the nation's largest supplier of managed staffing programs for healthcare providers. The joint venture, operating as Texas Health SingleSource Staffing (THSSS), oversees the staffing of all per-diem, local-contract and travelling nurses and allied healthcare professionals for Texas Health's system of 14 hospitals across North Texas.

"This unique approach to staffing will provide nurses and allied health professionals with the flexibility and mobility that many of them desire," said Joan Clark, chief nursing executive and senior vice president of Texas Health Resources. "At the same time, it provides them with more stability and a familiar environment. That combination of flexibility, mobility, stability and familiarity is only possible within a large, established healthcare system like Texas Health."

"Texas is facing a critical shortage of nurses and allied health professionals," said Doug Hawthorne, FACHE, CEO of Texas Health Resources. "As most surveys of patient satisfaction indicate, nurses are the key to providing patients with what they perceive as a satisfactory experience. Texas Health is investing a great deal of effort and resources into recruiting top-notch nurses and allied health professionals who support patient care because we're committed to improving quality, patient safety and the entire patient experience."

Texas is experiencing one of the most serious nursing shortages in the country, with a projected deficit of 30,242 nurses by the year 2015, according to the federal Health Resources and Services Administration.

Texas Health contributes to the joint venture its extensive clinical and patient care experience, while Medfinders, Inc. contributes its proprietary SingleSource(R) methodologies, technology, and expertise in workforce management. THSSS has also signed an exclusive agreement with Medfinders for its SingleSource Division to manage all of the clinical staffing needs of Texas Health Resources that are not otherwise filled by THSSS.

Medfinders, Inc. CEO Bob Livonius said, "Our joint venture with Texas Health Resources represents the most innovative partnership in the healthcare staffing industry. Our combined resources will be focused on a singular purpose - creating a highly competent and efficient supplemental workforce in support of the highest quality in patient care."

"We are committed to the highest standards of care and sought a partner whose values and standards matched our own," said Clark. "We have certainly found that in Medfinders. The strengths of our two organizations are very complementary. We expect the staffing performance we receive from THSSS and Medfinders will be very positive for our hospitals and the patients they serve."
