Team Type 1 Takes First Place Finish in Race Across America
Date:6/26/2009

The OmniPod System consists of two wireless components: the Pod -- a compact, lightweight, self-adhesive insulin delivery device that is worn discreetly on the skin beneath clothing; and the Personal Diabetes Manager -- a wireless, menu-driven, hand-held device that programs the Pod.

"We congratulate Team Type 1 on yet another inspiring achievement," commented Duane DeSisto, President and Chief Executive Office of Insulet, manufacturer of the OmniPod System. "These elite athletes embody our mission to make diabetes a smaller part of life."

About the OmniPod Insulin Management System

The OmniPod Insulin Management System is the world's only tubing-free insulin pump. OmniPod offers people living with insulin-requiring diabetes all the benefits of insulin pump therapy, with unprecedented freedom, comfort and ease. OmniPod has just two components: the small, discreet, watertight Pod, worn almost anywhere on the body to hold and deliver insulin; and the PDM (Personal Diabetes Manager), a hand-held device that communicates wirelessly to program the Pod, calculates suggested doses and has a built-in FreeStyle(R) blood glucose meter.

About Team Type 1 RAAM

The Team Type 1 Elite/Developmental team formed out of the desire to showcase diabetic cyclists during one of the toughest races in the world -- the Race Across America (RAAM). Seated at the top-rung of ultra-endurance competitions, the 3000-mile RAAM is 30% longer than the Tour de France; yet it is finished in less than one-third of the time! The 2007 Team Type 1 RAAM team finished first in the 8-person div
