Taubman Kimelman & Soroka Retained by AFGE Local 2222 to Advise in Organizing of New York and New Jersey Transportation Security Officers

New York law firm to represent executive board and individual union members as TSOs await word from Obama Administration on recognition of collective bargaining rights

New York (Lexis Nexis) April 15, 2009 -- Taubman Kimelman & Soroka, LLP, a New York law firm with a track record of success representing labor unions and their members with various legal challenges, has been retained by Local 2222 of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE).

AFGE Local 2222 is actively organizing Transportation Security Officers (TSOs), the passenger screeners and airport security professionals for the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration, who are employed in each of the New York and New Jersey airports. To date, approximately 1,700 of the 7,000 TSOs in the region are currently members of AFGE Local 2222.

The AGFE is the largest federal employee union, representing 600,000 federal and D.C. government workers nationwide and overseas. Workers in virtually all functions of government at every federal agency depend upon AFGE for legal representation, legislative advocacy, technical expertise and informational services.
