Target Corporation Joins Alliance to Make US Healthiest

Target: Public and Private Partnerships are Crucial to Achieve Health Care Reform

MINNEAPOLIS, May 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today announced that it has become a founding member of the Alliance to Make US Healthiest, a new coalition that strives to help U.S. citizens become more physically and emotionally healthy. The Alliance aims to help the U.S. become the healthiest nation in a healthier world. It strives to create a national movement that promotes health and well-being in the places where families work, live, go to school, shop and play.

"We support the vision of the Alliance that promotes an integrated national health system where people value health and work together to achieve optimal health for all," said John Mulligan, Target Vice President of Human Resources. "We view our participation in the Alliance as part of our civic responsibility. Its vision on health ties closely to ours, focusing on promoting prevention and wellness and improving the nation's overall health."

As a member of the Alliance, Target has pledged to provide leadership and foster actions and policies that encourage and sustain health. As such, Target is committed to providing health and wellness benefits for its employees (called team members) that make it easier and more affordable for all Target team members and their families to get and stay healthy.

Founded by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Association of County and City Health Officials, the driving values of the Alliance include:
