TIRR Memorial Hermann Uses Smartphones to Reduce Noise from Overhead Paging
Date:12/10/2013

Sarasota, Fla (PRWEB) December 10, 2013

Voalte, the leader in clinical communication technology, today released its latest case study, which discusses the integration of smartphones at TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston. TIRR Memorial Hermann is known for excellence in research and treatment for traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, amputations, multiple sclerosis and other neurological diseases.

As a facility for brain injury patients, TIRR Memorial Hermann required a clinical communication solution that minimizes noise caused by overhead paging. The case study reports that the use of text messaging on Voalte smartphones significantly reduced noise levels and reduced overhead paging in the facility.

The case study also reports a 3-to-1 text-to-call ratio, which allows caregivers to spend more time by the bedside instead of searching for other clinicians. The care team at TIRR Memorial Hermann also sends and receives group messages on the Voalte smartphones, which improves care coordination during shift transitions.

TIRR Memorial Hermann is the first facility in the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System to install smartphones at the point of care. Due to the success of the initial installation, Memorial Hermann plans to install Voalte smartphones in 10 of its other medical facilities.

According to Carl Josehart, CEO of TIRR Memorial Hermann, “Voalte is the best thing we have ever done for our nurses at this facility.”
