In 1928, Gerson, a German Jew, discovered a therapy based on eliminating toxins that are ingested from air, water and food by consuming an all natural diet that boosts the immune system. With its whole-body approach to healing, the Gerson Therapy cites over 200 articles in respected medical literature and scientific documentation about thousands of people cured of their "incurable" diseases through the therapy program over the last 60 years. Nobel prize winner Dr. Albert Schweitzer said of Gerson, "I see in Gerson one of the most eminent medical geniuses to ever walk among us." Despite the dismissal by the pharmaceutical and medical industries, the Gerson Therapy has proven to be effective and his legacy is carried on by his daughter Charlotte Gerson, who is also featured in the film.
