TDIC and TDIC Insurance Solutions Select Former California Department of Insurance Deputy as CEO

SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dentists Insurance Company (TDIC) and TDIC Insurance Solutions have announced the hire of Jim Richardson as their new president and CEO. Richardson begins his new position on May 28, 2009, bringing a unique blend of more than 20 years of management, administrative, public policy and insurance experience.

Since January of 2007, Richardson served as Chief Deputy Commissioner for the California Department of Insurance. In this role, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of a staff of 1,200 and a $200 million budget. He also provided policy advice to Commissioner Poizner on a wide variety of regulatory, legislative and political issues.

"Jim was a tremendous asset at the Department of Insurance. He is bright, energetic, personable and very talented. This combination of skills will serve him well in his new position at CDA," said California Department of Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner.

Prior to working at the California Department of Insurance, Richardson was principal and CEO of Golden State Consulting. He has also led synchronized operations and smooth transitions in some very complex environments, such as managing the transition team for Governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In addition to his professional achievements, Richardson holds a Master of Arts in Government from California State University, Sacramento; a Master of Arts in English from California State University, Sacramento; a Master of Arts in Education from California State University, San Francisco; and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Berkeley.
