Date:2/20/2009

QINGDAO, China and ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Synutra International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYUT, "Synutra"), a leading infant formula company in China, and a producer, marketer and seller of nutritional products for infants, children and adults, today issued a statement explaining the inclusion of certain production permit numbers in a published list of revoked production permit numbers by China General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine (AQSIQ). The Company had recently filed an application with AQSIQ for the revocation of obsolete production permits due to the dissolution of one of its operating subsidiaries, Qingdao Shengyuan Dairy Co., Ltd. Synutra President and Chief Operating Officer Weiguo Zhang said, "Technical updates to our production certification are routine business activities and market speculations that we are closing our facilities are groundless and irresponsible. We operate within all applicable laws and regulations within China and in the United States. We are committed to providing our Chinese consumers the highest quality and safest products possible and we strive to continually improve shareholder value."
