Web collaboration helps Aesculap Implant Systems stay abreast of ongoing
clinical trial results
DURANGO, Colo., April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Syndicom, the premier developer of collaborative communities, today announced that the company is providing its online collaboration platform to facilitate a clinical study for a new lumbar disc product from Aesculap Implant Systems, a subsidiary of Aesculap, Inc., focusing on Spine and Orthopaedic devices. With this agreement, Syndicom will provide Aesculap Implant Systems with its own private, HIPAA-secure Web community, which has been built to support and facilitate communications between Aesculap Implant Systems, its principal investigators and other participants during the clinical trial.
"Like many medical device manufacturers, Aesculap Implant Systems is under tremendous pressure to meet regulatory requirements, improve patient care, and reduce the time it takes to develop devices and take them to market," said Scott Capdevielle, CEO of Syndicom. "Thanks to unfettered communication and online collaboration provided by Syndicom, Aesculap Implant Systems can more easily address the challenges that come with testing and introducing their new device to the market."
By running its study on the Syndicom platform, Aesculap Implant Systems can maintain tighter control of its clinical trial process, which helps ensure a high-quality study. That's because the platform allows investigating surgeons to proactively identify and include only cases that strictly adhere to the protocols, post comments to those cases, receive immediate replies, and identify any problems early on -- all within a private and secure online environment.
"Participating surgeons recommended Syndicom to us because the platform
