Swisher Launches Germ-Free Zone at ISSA
Date:10/23/2007

Demonstrates Strategies For Minimizing Commercial Exposure To Microbes

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Swisher Hygiene, the world's leading provider of commercial hygiene products and services, today announced that it will be declaring a Germ-Free Zone at the ISSA/Interclean trade show in Orlando from October 24 - 27. The company will be highlighting a number of germ reduction strategies that have been developed in coordination with Dr. Charles Gerba, famed microbiologist from the University of Arizona, to show how a sustained low germ count can be attained through a simple but comprehensive approach to hygiene.

Gerba will be at Swisher's booth (#859) on Wednesday, October 24 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and again on Thursday, October 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. While in attendance, Gerba will demonstrate proper hygiene practices and offer insights developed over his career as a field-researcher and academic.

Both Swisher and Gerba cite the rising number of hygiene-related health and safety stories as evidence of just how important the issue is to today's business owners and operators. From outbreaks of e-Coli to antibiotic- resistant strains of Staph, businesses as varied as restaurants, health clubs, schools and hospitals find themselves vulnerable to illness, absenteeism and related consequences of pathogenic contamination.

As a foremost provider of cleaning and sanitizing services across America, Swisher is acutely aware of the danger that poor hygiene poses, and the company believes it's essential that members of the business community be made aware of the fact that they do not have to be passive in the face of germ threats.

The company has developed real, straightforward strategies that can be implemented immediately to make businesses significantly safer. Among these strategies is the use of hand sanitizer and the treatment of common touch points with a clinically proven germicide. The efficacy of these approaches will be empirically verified during the exhibition through the use of research-grade luminometers.
