SwedishAmerican Hospital and Precyse Solutions Sign Major Outsourced Oncology Data Management Agreement
Date:2/24/2009

WAYNE, Pa., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Precyse Solutions, a leading provider of clinical documentation software, workflow tools and consulting services, has signed a five-year Oncology Data Management contract with SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford, IL. The agreement between Precyse and SwedishAmerican includes the complete outsourcing of the abstracting and management of the hospital's Cancer Registry.

Precyse was awarded the contract based on its ability to provide Certified Tumor Registrars (CTRs) and management to keep SwedishAmerican's Cancer Registry up-to-date and the Oncology Department compliant with the Commission on Cancer (CoC) and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) requirements. In addition to providing management and staffing, Precyse will also be bringing best practices in Oncology Data Management to SwedishAmerican to help control costs associated with managing their oncology data. Precyse has offered positions to some of SwedishAmerican's existing staff.

Dawna Menke, Administrative Director of Oncology Services at SwedishAmerican explains the chronic issues the hospital has faced in their Registry activities: "We have struggled in the past to find CTRs, which is becoming a national trend versus just a regional problem. We are confident that Precyse's knowledgeable staff and nationwide experience with oncology data management will stabilize the coding of SwedishAmerican's cancer data."

Jeffrey S. Levitt, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Precyse, says that the turning point for SwedishAmerican resulted from a call to one of Precyse's Outsourced Oncology Data Management references, New York Presbyterian Hospital. "A software and services provider can always highlight the many features and benefits about a product or service. But ultimately, it is highly satisfied clients that demonstrate the value and can best articulate that proposition and experience. SwedishAmerican is a great hospital and we look forward to helping them realize top performance measures with their Oncology coding and abstracting."
