Suunto Joins ANT+ Interoperable Ecosystem
Date:3/5/2010

World leader in sport precision devices helps grow wireless fitness sector.

Cochrane, Alberta (PRWEB) March 5, 2010 -- ANT Wireless ("ANT" www.thisisant.com), a division of Dynastream Innovations Inc. and Suunto today announce Suunto’s membership in the ANT+ Alliance. A noted leader in the design and manufacturing of sport precision instruments, Suunto joins over 220 companies in delivering the best in wireless devices to the sport, fitness and health markets.

An original ANT partner, Suunto has worked in cooperation with ANT since the inception of the ultra low power (ULP) wireless protocol. In 2004, Suunto became one of the first companies to incorporate ANT technology into its well-respected fitness products.

Suunto products currently have a digital ANT interface, but with a closed network Suunto key. In future, Suunto will migrate to an ANT+ interface to enable its wrist units to operate with multiple ANT+ sensors.

“Given our long-time partnership with ANT, it is a natural transition for us to join the ANT+ Alliance and support work for common capabilities,” stated Juha Pinomaa, President of Suunto. ”By connecting to the ANT+ ecosystem we achieve immediate benefits and gain access to a wide array of sensor technologies and B2B opportunities. We also collectively contribute to the continued growth and development of new and better solutions in the fitness and wellness markets.”

The ANT+ Alliance is an open special interest group of companies who have adopted the ANT+ promise of interoperability. The Alliance ensures standardized communications, optimized brand value and partnerships with other top tier products.

“It is great to have Suunto, a pioneer and leader in sports electronics, join the ANT+ community,&rdquo
