National patient satisfaction survey ranks Sutter Fairfield Surgical Center

in top one percent of region's ambulatory surgery centers

FAIRFIELD, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Sutter Fairfield Surgical Center (SFSC), part of Sutter Regional Medical Foundation, ranks in the top one percent of all ambulatory surgery centers in the Mountain and Western states. That's according to the results of a recent patient satisfaction survey conducted by Press Ganey Associates Inc.

"We're honored and elated by the survey results," says Robert Takamoto, M.D., medical director of SFSC. "But, I can't say that we're surprised. This is a reflection of our mission to the community we serve and the hard work of our outstanding staff to carry out that mission and provide the best care possible in Solono County-and the entire mountain west."

The Press Ganey national patient satisfaction survey, which ranks more than 7,000 health care facilities across the U.S. each year, surveyed nearly 360 SFSC patients between May 1 and July 31, 2007. Results of the survey placed the SFSC ambulatory surgery center higher than 99 percent of the ambulatory surgery centers in the Mountain and Western States region (American Hospital Association regions 8 and 9).

"Everyone at the center was excellent," says area resident Kate Clark, who recently underwent a procedure at the facility. "I loved all of the nurses and saw the same doctor who performed the procedure (colonoscopy) five years earlier. Everyone was very personable, sweet and knowledgeable. It was above and beyond."

The survey also found that nearly 80 percent of patient responses to standard survey questions rated SFSC as "very good," the highest rating on the scale. The facility was rated on topics such as the friendliness/courtesy of the physician, nurses' concern for patient comfort, confidence in the skill of the physician, and information provided on the day of the surgery or procedure.
