Surgical Theater Demonstrating Precision VR® at HIMSS Annual Conference
Date:2/12/2019

Surgical Theater is demonstrating Precision VR®, a proven Virtual Reality Medical Visualization Solution to increase patient satisfaction, improve patient retention, and reduce patient outmigration for attendees of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) in Orlando, Florida, from February 11-14. HIMSS provides Surgical Theater with a great venue to highlight the value of patient engagement and empowerment with the use of Precision Virtual Reality® medical visualization platform. This 360°VR technology allows patients to walk inside their own anatomy alongside their surgeon. By putting on the VR headsets, both the patient and surgeon can literally walk together, inside the patient’s anatomical structure, enhancing their understanding of their condition and treatment plan. The VR walk-through facilitates shared-decision making and is proven to increase patient satisfaction, increase patient engagement, and improve an institution’s financial performance.

Attendees at the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society are invited to engage in discussions and learn about the positive impact implementing Precision VR® offers. Robert Louis, MD, Neurosurgeon and Program Director of the Skull Base and Pituitary Tumor Program at Hoag Hospital, will review the value of Precision VR® and how its utility improved patient retention while reducing patient out-migration in his practice. Opportunities to participate in these discussions and to experience Precision VR® include:

  • Exhibit: Surgical Theater will have Precision VR® demo stations in booth #3741 and booth #5285. Stop by to learn how Surgical Theater is highlighting 360°VR medical technology with patients, their family and their surgeon.
  • Podium Presentation: “Using Virtual Reality Technology Across the Surgical Treatment Continuum Results in Enhanced Patient Engagement and Satisfaction”, Robert Louis, MD, Neurosurgeon and Program Director of the Skull Base and Pituitary Tumor Program at Hoag Hospital

Monday, February 11, 3:30pm-4:00pm

  • Panel Discussion: “The Use of VR for Enhanced Patient Engagement”, Robert Louis, MD, Neurosurgeon and Program Director of the Skull Base and Pituitary Tumor Program at Hoag Hospital

Tuesday, February 12, 1:30pm-: 2:30pm

“The Healthcare Information Management Systems Society is a fantastic venue for IT professionals to evaluate their Virtual and Augmented Reality strategy for 2019 and beyond. Surgical Theater will showcase the value of 360° VR, demonstrating how an enterprise implementation can yield substantial outcomes throughout the patient treatment continuum. Our partner hospitals have found they can realize significant economic growth through increases in patient engagement and satisfaction, decreases in patient outmigration, and an improved bottom line”, said Moty Avisar, CEO & Co-Founder of Surgical Theater.

About Surgical Theater
Surgical Theater, the market leader in virtual and augmented reality healthcare services, is the first to combine cutting-edge fighter jet flight simulation technology with a patient’s own anatomy scans. Rendered from comprehensive combined modalities of CT, MRI as well as advanced post processing images such as DTI and BOLD, the 360° virtual reality fly-through is designed to allow surgeons to walk and fly-through a reconstruction of the patient’s own anatomy and pathology. Surgeons literally walk in the space between the white matter tracks and the tumor, being fully immersed, gaining unprecedented situational awareness and clarity of assessment. By simply turning their head, the surgeon can further explore the anatomy and plan the craniotomy, surgical path, trajectory, corridor, and the entire surgical strategy.
