Superior Builders & Remodelers: Rewarding Customers After 50 Years in Business and Zero Complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB)
Date:8/30/2013

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) August 30, 2013

Superior Builders & Remodelers, a residential build-design contractor, is celebrating 50 years in business without a customer complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). To acknowledge this, the company is providing all past customers and certain future ones— with a complimentary home service inspection valued up to $1000.

“It’s really an honor and quite a surprise to have a perfect service record with the BBB,” said second generation owner, David Lorber, who has run the business since 1989. “To go a half century without a complaint and to have hundreds of satisfied customers over a 50-year period is absolutely astonishing and a great honor,” Lorber said. “Now it's time to give back with a free home inspection to show our appreciation for past -- and selected future Superior Builders & Remodelers' customers."

The home inspection is valued at up to $1000 and is very detailed, addressing primarily what Lorber calls an “aging inventory,” homes that were built 50 or more years ago. Older bay area homes, he explained, even if renovated recently, often need ongoing upkeep or repair.

“In fact, many Bay Area homes are getting close to or have already have exceeded the 100-year mark," Lorber elaborated. "So it’s important to communicate to homeowners that many systems in their aging homes are well past their useful service life.” Superior Builders’ comprehensive home service inspection includes evaluating the following systems:

  •     Checking and offering recommendations for water infiltration at the foundation, windows siding (or stucco) and doors
  •     Inspecting the foundation for proper earthquake retrofitting
  •     Examining electrical systems to prevent disruptions and ensure adequate energy needs
  •     Checking for plumbing leaks, proper drainage and water flow and more

As a second-generation business owner, David, like his father before him, has always been adamant about providing quality service. Since becoming the company's owner in 1989, David has carried on the family tradition of providing exceptional craftsmanship. “In 50 years as a family-owned business, our number one goal has always been to provide quality goods and services. The best home renovation starts with excellent work practices and doesn't stop until a superior finished product is created," Lorber said.

There have been many industry-wide changed in 50 years since the company started such as stone counter tops replacing laminate and hardwood usurping vinyl, he said, but that “quality and attention to detail carries on.”

Today, Superior Builders is focused on remodeling with a growing emphasis on repair work for moisture intrusion and redoing faulty workmanship. “This has become a real problem in recent a year, that is, homeowners hiring a seemingly reputable companies to do the work and then having to redo it later,” Lorber said. “We see a lot of inferior work that is also exacerbated by father time." Superior Builders overcomes this by having a well-trained team in place that is united in it's building approach: stand by the quality of your work, always do a job correctly the first time, and respect the needs of homeowners.

“The industry has indeed changed a lot,” Lorber explained. “It’s far more complicated with building codes, engineering and seismic retrofitting, energy requirements, and the growth in construction choices and material options. But the values instilled by his father and the professional training he received dovetails nicely with today’s more demanding approach.”

Today, after 32 years in the business and after thousands of hours of experience, Lorber has dealt with just about every construction puzzle out there. Most importantly, he adds, whenever the construction job is completed, the result is always a “structurally sound home and a happy homeowner.”

Lorber goes back to his father for instilling in him the right work ethic to be successful in business. “I made my way from the bottom up,” Lorber said. “There was a lot of pick and shovel time. But I eventually learned all sides of the business.” To carry on his father's notion of creating quality work, Superior Builders & Remodelers' comprehensive, free home repair assessment acts as a foundational component, or a starting point, Lorber added, for any future home remodeling project.

“Our 50th anniversary is a perfect time to highlight my dad’s vision of doing “superior work,” Lorber went on. "Who knows, maybe it'll be the start of 50 more complaint-free years and hundreds of more satisfied customers.” To learn more about Superior Builders & Remodelers, please visit http://www.superiorbaybuilders.com
