Summertime Brings More Outdoor Therapy to Passages Malibu
Date:7/16/2013

Malibu, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2013

The summer months in Malibu traditionally welcome the most ideal time to enjoy the relaxed Southern California atmosphere. Passages Malibu utilizes the season to take its clientele out on the Safe Passage yacht. Ocean therapy is designed to inspire a return of vitality and inspiration to the lives of its participants and provides the opportunity to interact with marine life while out on the serene calm of the Pacific Ocean.

Equine assisted therapy remains a staple of the Passages treatment program and working with horses offers clients the opportunity to strengthen both non-verbal and verbal skills. Equine therapy is led by a marriage & family therapist, and does not actually involve riding a horse. Research & experience have revealed that being in the presence of animals has a calming, restorative quality, lowering both stress levels and blood pressure.

The fresh summer air is also ideal to enjoy the trust-building ropes course, which works to build self-confidence, leadership skills, and team development. The ropes course is one of the more challenging, yet extremely rewarding alternative therapy options at Passages Malibu. Clientele often come away from the experience grateful for the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone.

“Southern California really is beautiful year-round, but the summer’s here are inspiring,” said Pax Prentiss, CEO of Passages Addiction Treatment Centers. “Once the overcast skies of ‘June Gloom’ have burned off and the sunshine and breeze pick up, we take the opportunity to mix in more of our outdoor-centered treatment options. Many of our clients have used the summer months in particular to take full advantage of the natural environment that Malibu provides, as well as the alternative treatment options that we make available here at Passages.”

At Passages Malibu - Addiction Ends Here™

About Passages Malibu & Passages Ventura:

Father and son team Chris and Pax Prentiss founded Passages Malibu in 2001. Its second location, Passages Ventura, first opened its doors in 2009. The two alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers offer an alternative to the 12 step/AA model of addiction treatment by utilizing a holistic program that focuses on the underlying issues of substance dependency, rather than attributing addiction to an incurable disease.

Both Passages Malibu and Passages Ventura accept insurance and each have earned the coveted Joint Commission (JCAHO) accreditation, which has only been given to 6% of the nation’s behavioral health treatment programs.

Passages Malibu was named the #1 treatment center in the world by Healthcare Global, one of the "Most Luxurious Places to Dry Out" by Forbes magazine, and the Huffington Post recently acknowledged Passages as a center that “caters to a high-end crowd, with many CEOs, entrepreneurs and high-powered professionals among its clients.”

The co-founders are also authors of an acclaimed series of addiction treatment books, including their groundbreaking, flagship title, The Alcoholism & Addiction Cure.
