Summa Health Network Announces Contract with MDdatacor to Support Multi-Insurer Health Care Quality Initiative; Initiative to Use Clinical Data to Supplement Claims Data and Enhance Outcomes

SHN's voluntary physician initiative launches in January 2009 and will seek to analyze and improve cost, quality, and utilization patterns of care delivered across three health insurance plans' participants currently being cared for by SHN physicians.

MDdatacor's technology automates the collection of clinical data from physician practices' existing data sources, including transcription, electronic medical record (EMR), practice management, lab, and registry systems. The MDdatacor tool provides physicians with real-time web-based reports that identify patients whose current treatment does not meet clinical guidelines, enabling physicians to provide appropriate, evidence-based medical care to patients in a cost-effective manner.
