Stryker Hip Lawyers at Bernstein Liebhard LLP Comment on Growing Litigation in Wake of Stryker Rejuvenate Recall

Court records indicated that more than 80 Stryker hip lawsuits have been filed in a consolidated litigation underway in New Jersey state court since the announcement of the July 2012 recall of Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to filings in Bergen County Superior Court, plaintiffs allege the recalled Stryker hip implants shed dangerous amounts of metal ions when the metal components rubbed together, causing patients to suffer muscle, nerve and bone damage. Many of the plaintiffs further allege they were forced to undergo revision surgery to remove the device when their Stryker hips failed. “The injuries alleged in the Stryker hip lawsuits filed in the New Jersey litigation echo what we have heard from our clients since the Stryker Rejuvenate recall. We believe hundreds of similar claims will be filed in New Jersey and elsewhere in the coming months,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is actively filing Stryker hip lawsuits in the New Jersey proceeding on behalf of individuals who suffered metallosis, hip implant failure and other complications, related to the Stryker Rejuvenate recall.

The Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012 after data indicated the metal hip stems were prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction. According to court documents, the Stryker Rejuvenate litigation underway in New Jersey was established last month by an order of the New Jersey Superior court.
