Stryker Hip Lawsuits Progress in State, Federal Stryker Hip Recall Litigations, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports
Date:10/19/2013

New York, New York (PRWEB) October 19, 2013

Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.strykerhiprecallclaims.com/) filed on behalf of plaintiffs who allegedly suffered serious complications due to Stryker’s recalled Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems continue to move forward in courts around the country, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to court documents, a Case Management Conference will be held this coming Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in a New Jersey Multicounty Litigation now underway in Bergen County Superior Court, where Bernstein Liebhard LLP is currently filing claims. (In Re Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Stem and the ABG II Modular Hip Stem Litigation, No. 296) Additional court documents filed in a multidistrict litigation established in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota for Stryker hip recall claims indicate that the court will convene its next Status Conference on November 21, 2013. “Our Firm hears from Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stem recipients on a regular basis who have allegedly suffered serious complications related to the fretting and corrosion of these components. We are pleased to see that Stryker hip recall litigations are progressing in courts around the country,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free Stryker hip lawsuit evaluations to individuals who have suffered serious complications, allegedly due to the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.

Stryker Hip Recall
The Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012, after Stryker determined that the Rejuvenate and ABG II stems were prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction. This may cause patients to suffer pain, swelling, and adverse local tissue reactions at the site of their implant. Patients fitted with these devices have been advised to undergo medical screening, even if they are not experiencing any symptoms. According to Stryker, the absence of symptoms is not a reliable indicator that the components are performing as intended.*

Court filings show that more than 600 Stryker hip lawsuits have been filed in the litigations underway in New Jersey and Minnesota. Just over a dozen complaints are also pending in a consolidated proceeding that was established earlier this month in Florida’s Broward County Circuit Court. (Simon v. Howmedica Osteonics Corp., et al., No. CACE-12-25899 (18)) All of these lawsuits claim that recipients of Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems suffered disabling injuries, including metallosis and significant metal and bone loss, due to toxic metal ions shed from the metal components.

Individuals who received Rejuvenate or ABG II stems may be entitled to compensation if they suffered serious complications that were allegedly caused by these devices.
