Former employee brings design and management expertise to executive role
SEATTLE, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Stratos Product Development is pleased to announce the appointment of John Havard as the company's new vice president of engineering. Havard brings more than 21 years experience to the Stratos team of product development specialists.

Havard rejoins Stratos after co-founding EnVision Instruments in 2003. At EnVision, he led the development of two wireless optical instruments for the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. The first product to market was a laser-based near-IR cell density monitor. This was followed by prototype-stage development of an in-line UV spectroscopy instrument for purification process monitoring. Both products used a common architecture that allowed the customer to choose between a Bluetooth-based Web browser interface or Foundation-Fieldbus interface. Havard filled the roles of director of engineering, product architect and lead designer at the start-up company. He also supervised the company's contract manufacturing and production testing. EnVision was acquired by Finesse Solutions in 2005, and Havard most recently served as the new company's chief engineer.
