Statewide Wellness Awards Competition Now Open for Nominations

AKRON, Ohio, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Akron General Health System, a nationally recognized leader in the concept of disease prevention and wellness, is accepting nominations for its second annual Wellness Champion Awards, an awards celebration honoring leaders -- individuals and corporations/organization -- throughout the State of Ohio who have made impressive strides toward improving personal health or the health of their employees.

Nominations for the 2008 Wellness Champion Awards are now being accepted for individuals or company/organizations who have shown leadership in improving health and maintaining wellness for themselves and others, or for their company's employees. An individual and a corporate winner will be chosen in Gold, Silver and Bronze categories. Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:

Individual Corporate

Gold $3,000 $5,000

Silver $2,000 $3,500

Bronze $1,000 $2,000

Nominations are being accepted now! Additional supporting documentation (photos, company newsletters, etc.) may be submitted and must be received no later than the nomination deadline of September 1, 2008.

This awards program is open to any individual or company/organization in Ohio excluding fitness and health care providers who are ineligible. Health improvement activities must have been completed between September 2007 and September 2008.

Winners will be honored at an awards luncheon to be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn, 3180 W. Market Street, Akron. The program and its winners will also be promoted throughout the state through media opportunities and in Smart Business Magazine. All nominees, staff, family and friends are invited to attend the Wellness Awards luncheon.
