Stater Bros. Raises $266,429.00 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Stater Bros. is proud to announce that the Company, its customers and employees recently raised $266,429.00 to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In the past two years, Stater Bros. has raised over $460,000 for this organization.

During the month of June 2009, Stater Bros.' customers and employees at all 166 Stater Bros. Supermarkets were given the opportunity to donate by purchasing $1 paper balloons, which were available at each check-out counter.

All of the funds collected will go back to the local communities served by Stater Bros. and will be used to support critical programs for cancer patients as well as for research towards a cure.

The check presentation took place at the Stater Bros. Supermarket located at 210 East Stetson Avenue in Hemet, which was the top fund raising store in the chain. At this event, Store Managers and Clerks were honored for their outstanding efforts.

Stater Bros. has also recently formed a team of over 900 Stater Bros. employees and their family members who will be walking at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Annual "Light The Night" Walk on August 22nd at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

Jack H. Brown, Stater Bros. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "The Stater Bros. 'Family' of Employees is extremely proud to support the fight against blood cancers.
