For a two-and-a-half week period during the month of June, Stater Bros. customers and employees at all 165 Stater Bros. Supermarkets were given an opportunity to make a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by purchasing "Light the Night" paper balloons for $1. In addition, Stater Bros. made a direct contribution to this "Light the Night" fundraising campaign.

All of the funds collected go back to the local communities served by Stater Bros. and will be used to support critical programs for cancer patients and research towards a cure.

The check presentation took place at the Stater Bros. Supermarket located at 47 West Nuevo Road in Perris, California. At this event, Store Managers and Clerks were honored for their outstanding efforts. Also in attendance was 9-year-old leukemia survivor Caleb Gennaway, who is healthy and was honored to be able to share his remarkable story with others.

Jack H. Brown, Stater Bros. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "The Stater Bros. 'Family' of Employees are extremely proud to support the fight against blood cancers. The money raised exceeded our goal, and we are extremely proud to be able to help the families and friends of those affected by blood cancers."
