Statement of DNC Chairman Howard Dean on World AIDS Day

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean today issued the following statement commemorating World AIDS Day on its 20th Anniversary:

"It's been 20 years since the first World AIDS Day, and while we have made strides, much work remains to be done to tackle this epidemic with both a national and global strategy. We must focus not only on preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS, but also continue to improve care for those who struggle with this illness. As President-Elect Obama reminds us, government alone cannot bring an end to this crisis, we must all do our part. Today, as we mark World AIDS Day, let's pause to reflect on those we have lost, the toll it has taken on those who loved them, and recommit ourselves to finding a cure."
