State of Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Medical Services Selects U.S. Care Management for High-Risk Obstetrics Health Management Program
Date:11/20/2007

Management's nurses will conduct home visits and be supported by a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week nurse phone line including in and out-bound calls. The program will work closely with medical and community based providers, including the Antenatal and Neonatal Guidelines, Education and Learning System (ANGELS) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Obstetrical evidence-based practice guidelines prepared by ANGELS will be used as the platform for care coordination, patient education and support.

"We recognize that high-risk pregnancies and pre-term deliveries are the result of multiple factors including medical, social and economic issues," said Fred Goldstein, president and CEO of U.S. Care Management. "We will contribute to interventions that may improve birth outcomes and reduce costs associated with complicated pregnancies and at-risk infants by focusing on the needs of the whole person. Our community-based program accomplishes this through care coordination, education, monitoring and proactively managing data to maximize early and meaningful coordination of prenatal care, especially in those individuals with co-morbid conditions like asthma, diabetes and hypertension that are frequently related to the cause of high-risk pregnancies, pre-term deliveries and subsequent medical problems in an infant's first year of life."

U.S. Care Management is based in Jacksonville, FL, and consistently demonstrates positive quality, cost, and satisfaction outcomes in the management of patients with complex chronic conditions. The company contracts with government and private payers of health services and operates in several states throughout the country.
