St. Louis Plastic Surgeon Renews Curves and Self-Esteem in New Mothers as Fresh Trends in Cosmetic Enhancement Emerge

A recent study from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery indicates new trends and a significant jump in the amount of cosmetic surgery procedures performed in women. Dr. Jeffrey Copeland, a plastic surgeon in St. Louis, says one group of women he sees more and more of is new mothers hoping to rejuvenate their appearances and boost their self-confidence with a procedure designed specifically for them.

(Vocus) December 18, 2009 -- According to a study released last spring from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there has been a 162 percent increase in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures since 1997. About 92% of procedures were undergone by women, with breast augmentation and liposuction being the most popular surgical treatments, and BOTOX® injections leading the way in non-surgical procedures. Dr. Jeffrey Copeland with Copeland Cosmetic Surgery, a practice offering plastic surgery in St. Louis and surrounding areas, says part of this growing trend in cosmetic surgery may involve a particular group of women: new mothers aiming to restore their bodies after the physical rigors of pregnancy have taken their toll. And he offers a procedure that can be specifically designed for them: the Mommy Makeover.
