St. Jude Celebrates Next Frontier of Finding Cures With Grand Opening of Chili's Care Center

s to St. Jude from Donate Profits Day -- held each year on the last Monday in September. Over the life of the partnership, Chili's has donated more than $18.7 million for the hospital, with an astounding $8.2 million coming from the 2007 campaign alone. These funds contribute to Chili's 10-year plan to donate $50 million for the construction of the Chili's Care Center.

"Through their dedication, nearly 75,000 Chili's Grill & Bar team members made the 2007 Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign a resounding success," said Todd Diener, president, Chili's Grill & Bar. "This year's campaign once again exceeded our highest expectations, totaling more than $8.2 million for the patients of St. Jude, bringing us closer to our goal of raising $50 million and making the Chili's Care Center building we are dedicating today a reality."

Moses, chief executive officer of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude.

The Chili's Care Center combines 21st Century imaging and treatment technology with St. Jude's almost half-century approach to medical research: put patients and scientists in the same building to fast-track the translation of new knowledge into better care for our children. The seven-story, 340,000-square-foot facility will house major research initiatives in both diagnostic and therapeutic radiology. The Chili's Care Center possesses state-of-the-art equipment such as a cyclotron that will provide an array of new research initiatives in nuclear chemistry and nuclear medicine by using novel radiolabeled pharmaceuticals to trac
