St. Joseph's Healthcare System Implements $250 Million, Five-Year Facilities Project at Paterson and Wayn...(and Swallowing Center the Alfiero and Lu...),Health

and Swallowing Center, the Alfiero and Lucia Palestroni Birth Defects Center, The Autism Center, The Regional Cystic Fibrosis Center, Child Development Center, The Regional Craniofacial Center, Pediatric and Adult Neurology, as well as Ophthalmology, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), and more.

Construction at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital in Wayne, NJ includes renovation and expansion of the Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care Unit, expansion of the surgical suites and post-operative area, and renovation of the lobby.

"Operating rooms today are being built to nearly twice the size that they were 25 years ago to accommodate the technology and the people you need for sophisticated procedures," says McDonald. "At St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, we will be replacing two existing operating rooms with two brand new, 600 square foot, systems integrated operating rooms that are equipped to meet the current and future technologic demands of surgery."

Overall facilities plans call for:

St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center/St. Joseph's Children's Hospital

• Renovation of existing space for the new DePaul Ambulatory Care Center at St. Joseph's -- which opened on June 15, 2009
• A new 173,798 square foot Critical Care Building
• A 1,122-car parking garage (to be constructed by an external organization)
• Renovation of the main lobby
• Development of a Women's and Children's Lobby
• Development of a state-of-the-art conference center
• Cosmetic upgrades to all patient rooms, increase in single patient rooms and renovated nursing stations on patient care units
