Spring Hope, NC Gum Disease Treatment is Now Performed Using Laser Gum Surgery with Dr. H. Howard Weeks
Date:8/12/2013

Spring Hope, NC (PRWEB) August 12, 2013

Dr. H. Howard Weeks is proud to be among the first dental professionals to offer a revolutionary new laser gum surgery to patients seeking gum disease treatment. Known as the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP), this process takes advantage of laser technology to eradicate gum disease and deliver overall improved oral and gum health to patients in a less invasive manner than traditional gum surgeries. Having recently been cleared for use by the FDA, LANAP is quickly becoming the progressive dentist’s preferred method of treating periodontal disease.

Prior to the advent of LANAP, gum disease treatment required the administering of anesthesia, the use of a surgical scalpel, stitches and a painful recovery process. Additionally, healthy gum tissue is commonly lost during the cutting out of diseased gum tissue with a scalpel method surgery. Laser gum surgery is able to isolate the infected tissue and remove only that portion of the gum, leaving the maximum amount of healthy tissue completely intact. This helps to reduce gum recession.

The PerioLase MVP-7 laser is not able to be detected by water, bone, root or healthy gum but is able to absorb bacteria so therefore it is highly effective as a gum disease treatment. The laser is used to identify and vaporize the infected tissue away after which Dr. Weeks removes built up calculus and tartar. He then uses the laser again to seal the gum tissue for healing and prevention of future bacteria growth.

Patients with gum disease should take advantage of the benefits of the LANAP laser gum surgery and increase their chances to save teeth and bone, as well as to have healthy gums. Dr. Weeks and his staff take great pride in offering LANAP since 2005. If you have gum disease and want to learn how you can benefit from LANAP, contact Dr. Weeks’ office today.
