Deaconess Medical Center and Valley Hospital Enhance Community Healthcare

TACOMA, Wash., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Sound Inpatient Physicians(TM) (Sound), a leading national hospitalist company, announced two new contracts in Spokane, Wash., with Deaconess Medical Center and Valley Hospital and Medical Center. Sound initiated service to both hospitals at the end of 2008. Five existing hospitalists, already serving the hospitals, were incorporated into the Sound program. Within two months of implementing the program, Sound now has a 14-physician model and two dedicated clinical coordinators serving the patients, hospitals and greater medical community under the leadership of Scot Smith, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Sound Inpatient Physicians.

"We are delighted to bring our proven infrastructure and delivery model to the patients, community of physicians and hospitals in Spokane," said Dr. Robert Bessler, President & CEO of Sound Inpatient Physicians. "We look forward to continuing the great care that has been provided by the physicians to-date and further improving the quality, utilization and satisfaction of care to all of those we serve."

Sound has integrated its proprietary workflow management technology and processes to both hospitals, providing objective measurements that effectively address complex quality and economic issues facing hospitals today.

"We are excited to be working with Sound in the Spokane community," said Dr. Bob Hartman, Chief Medical Officer for both hospitals. "They are known for their quality and service, and we look forward to adding their expertise and patient-centered care to the services at Deaconess Medical Center and Valley Hospital."
