Manchester, UK (PRWeb) October 4, 2009 -- Spire Healthcare, the UK's premier private hospital group, have won a prestigious 'Top Ten Website' award from the online intelligence experts Hitwise. The award is run twice yearly and recognises the 10 most popular websites across some 160+ categories. From January to June 2009 Spire Healthcare was ranked the ninth most visited website in the 'Health and Medical - Primary and Specialist' industry.

The Hitwise awards are a true indication of public popularity as the data used to determine the winners is taken directly from Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Since 1997 Hitwise has fostered a unique relationship with ISP's around the world which enables them to accurately measure a range of Internet statistics and online trends.

The Hitwise accolade builds on a number of other awards won by Spire Healthcare in recent years. This year Spire's Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Jean-Jaques De Gorter, was named a Finalist in the British Medical Journal's Clinical Leadership Award 2009. The Nursing Times has named Spire in their 'Top 100 Employers' for two years running, whilst in 2008 Spire won the Laing & Buisson Healthcare Outcomes Award.
