Children’s Specialized Hospital announced the opening of Special Needs Primary Care adding to its breath of services for children with complex medical needs and their families in Mercer County. The outpatient center is located at 3575 Quakerbridge Road, Hamilton, NJ.
“Ultimately, the goal of our practice is to provide much needed, comprehensive care to children with medical complexity and their families,” said Matthew B. McDonald III, M.D., Chief of Special Needs Pediatrics at Children’s Specialized Hospital. “We offer everything you would find in a typical pediatrician’s office including sick and well visits but also the specialized coordination of services required to help children with complex medical needs.”
Children’s Specialized Hospital is dedicated to serving children with all types of special health needs from chronic illnesses and complex physical disabilities to developmental and behavioral issues like Autism.
These children benefit from coordinated care provided by a team equipped to deliver the resources necessary to improve the health of children who are fragile or at-risk. The team at Special Needs Primary Care includes doctors, care coordinators, social workers, therapists, nurses and staff members who are prepared to care for children who need extra resources to reach their goals.
In this practice, Children’s Specialized Hospital helps children and families negotiate not only the complex medical care, but the school systems as well. The doctors are experienced in caring for children with a variety of special needs and the care coordinators help make sure children get the medications, services and equipment they need to thrive. The care coordinators and social workers also help advocate for our patient’s medical and behavioral health needs.
