Southwest Skin & Cancer Institute Celebrates Ten Years of Service to Patients
Date:3/25/2013

Prescott, Arizona (PRWEB) March 26, 2013

Robin Fleck, M.D., founder and medical director of Southwest Skin & Cancer Institute is pleased to announce that 2013 marks the tenth anniversary of her medical practice in Prescott, Arizona. Southwest Skin & Cancer Institute, and Dr. Fleck’s other specialty practices, Vein Specialties, and Body Oasis Laser Aesthetics, strive to employ the ultimate in scientific knowledge, focusing on the treatment of skin problems and the aging process. The practice treats patients with skin cancer as well as offering a full range of cosmetic services including, Botox, dermal fillers, laser hair and tattoo removal, varicose vein and spider vein treatments, and laser skin rejuvenation. Monthly promotional drawings for free services are being offered to celebrate our tenth year in business.

Skin cancer is prevalent in Arizona. There are three main types of skin cancer including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma which are caused by overexposure to the sun and tanning beds. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of these cancers is the key to decreasing morbidity and mortality from skin cancer. Dr. Fleck is a recognized expert in the diagnosis and surgical removal of skin cancer.

Southwest Skin & Cancer Institute also cares for patients with acne. Whether in teens or in older adults, acne is an embarrassing condition which is usually curable. There are many causes of acne, including poor diet, infection, alcohol intake, and allergies. A careful history and physical examination is essential in sorting out the root cause and arriving at an effective treatment regimen. “We have many happy clients, whose chronic acne has cleared quickly after they’ve seen Dr. Fleck,” notes Alyssa Frainier, medical assistant at Southwest Skin & Cancer Institute.

Southwest Skin & Cancer Institute also offers a variety of antiaging treatments including Botox and Xeomin, which remove frown lines and crow’s feet; and cosmetic fillers such as Restylane and Radiesse. Dermal fillers can be used to augment the cheekbones, reduce wrinkles and scars while also reshaping the nose or rejuvenating the hands. Procedures can be done over a lunch hour with no downtime and minimal expense.

Dr. Fleck’s cosmetic laser practice, Body Oasis Laser Aesthetics, was founded in 2005, and has been at the forefront of laser rejuvenation for aging skin. The Acculift Laser Lipo treatment tightens the skin around the lower face, neck and jowls which contribute to an obese, aged appearance. The Acculift treatment can be combined with the Active FX fractional CO2 laser which removes age spots, fine lines and wrinkles and tightens lax skin on the neck and around the eyes. Patients who have undergone the combination laser procedure have experienced extremely positive results, often equaling the improvement seen with surgical facelifts with half the downtime and costs, and no scars.

Last year, Dr. Fleck acquired the Pinpointe laser which is FDA-approved to treat nail fungus. Clinical studies have shown a 75% clearance of nail fungus with a single treatment. “Our experience with this laser has been even better, with clearance approaching 95% when the laser is combined with a short course of antifungal medication,” reports Dr. Fleck.

Dr. Fleck’s other specialty clinic, Vein Specialties, opened in 2007, offers cutting edge laser treatments for varicose and spider veins. Varicose veins are the result of heredity, obesity, age, trauma to the legs, and pregnancy. Symptoms include leg pain, swelling, heaviness, cramping, restless leg syndrome, and spider veins. With endovenous laser ablation and sclerotherapy, many patients can eliminate symptomatic varicose veins in less than a month.
