Southwest Ambulance Awarded Exclusive, 3-Year Contract Extension in Peoria, Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Rural/Metro Corporation (Nasdaq: RURL) announced today that its Southwest Ambulance subsidiary has been awarded a three-year contract extension to continue as the exclusive emergency ambulance provider in Peoria, Arizona. The extension period continues through August 2010.

Jack Brucker, President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Our commitment to high-quality service enhances our ability to retain key 911-emergency contracts such as this one in the growing suburbs of metropolitan Phoenix and supports our strategic goal to fully leverage our presence in the Arizona market. We are very pleased to continue serving the City of Peoria for the long-term."

Southwest Ambulance has been the sole provider of emergency ambulance services to the City of Peoria since 1990. On the western border of Phoenix, Peoria encompasses more than 162 square miles with a population of nearly 136,000 residents. Southwest Ambulance provided more than 8,500 transports in Peoria in the past year.
