Date:3/22/2013

Lenexa, KS (PRWEB) March 22, 2013

After conducting a nationwide executive search led by healthcare leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith, Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center in Bandon, Ore., has hired Charles Johnston as chief executive officer. A seasoned healthcare executive, Johnston will assume his new duties on April 1st.

“Charles brings a proven track record in driving strategic and operational efficiencies with a strong focus on delivering quality, cost-effective care,” said Esther Williams, chair of the board of directors at Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center. “His leadership style as well as his experience and passion for rural health will be a great asset to our organization and the community.”

Prior to joining Southern Coos Hospital, Johnston served as interim chief executive officer for Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla. He provided strategic and operational leadership to the county owned acute care hospital and five physician clinics. Johnston also served as chief executive officer at Pauls Valley General Hospital in Pauls Valley, Okla.

“Southern Coos Hospital was seeking a senior healthcare leader with demonstrated success implementing strategic initiatives in the rural healthcare environment and a strong commitment to improve the health and wellness of the community,” said Kathy Noland, vice president of senior executive search for B. E. Smith, the leadership solutions firm who conducted the nationwide CEO search. “Charles’ experience and leadership style was an ideal match.”

Johnston earned a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
