Just as digital cameras have made photography easier and more efficient by eliminating film, DR systems provide the veterinarian with a radiographic image that can be viewed immediately onsite or at a review workstation, including a high-resolution monitor, without the need for film development. Sophisticated ultrasound technology provides real-time images for observation of organs, such as the heart, other soft tissue and blood flow.
The digital images are stored, archived and retrieved electronically through Eklin's RapidPACS system and integrated with the VIA medical record and other reports. Based on DICOM standards, images from all compliant digital imaging modalities (such as ultrasound or CT) can be integrated for a comprehensive view of a patient's imaging and medical records. This information can be electronically shared throughout SCVS' expanded facility or with the referring veterinarian.
"SCVS' commitment to outstanding patient care is reflected in its implementation of leading digital technology," said Gary R. Cantu, CEO and chairman, Eklin. "We developed the Eklin Digital Practice to provide excellent image quality, workflow efficiencies and data management in support of superior patient care. We are delighted SCVS selected all three of our digital solutions and are pleased to be a part of this team."
An open house for Phase I of the new SCVS facility will be held on October 25, 2008 from 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The facility is located at 3924 Fernandina Road in Columbia.
