Some UK Tourists Find Overseas Travel Disappointing Because It’s Just Not British Enough

Customer feedback can be a useful tool for any business. Positive comments may be used to promote a successful company, and dealing with customer complaints can be an effective foundation upon which process improvements are made. What is surprising is that Britain has produced some of the world’s greatest explorers. Sadly, judging by some customer feedback, it seems a few may have lost the British passion for exploration and cannot tolerate staying in a country that doesn’t sell proper biscuits like custard creams or ginger nuts. Another disgruntled tourist felt the need to complain that the restaurants in Goa, India, all served curry; a most unwelcome and spicy experience, it appears, for the British palate.

Many British holidaymakers flock overseas to sample the beautiful, sandy beaches that beckon enticingly from holiday brochures. Despite this, some have commented that the beaches were just too sandy, or that the sand appeared too white and not the desired shade of yellow shown in the brochure. It seems that overseas travel also causes some British tourists to lose all sense of proportion. One dissatisfied traveller complained that her one-bedroom apartment seemed so much smaller than the three-bedroom apartment occupied by her friends.

Although some aspects of overseas travel cannot be foreseen, we should all expect that those living in non-English speaking countries will have a language of their own. However, even this simple concept seems to have caused confusion as some comments stress the frustration at taxi drivers in Spain speaking Spanish. Indeed, one traveller complained about her holiday destination because there were too many Spanish people. What’s more, they served Spanish food to their guests and spoke the Spanish language. For some British tourists, it appears there are just too many foreigners now living abroad.

Thankfully, these comments are not the norm. Indeed, thousands of British holidaymakers travel overseas every year and delight in their surroundings, take pleasure in sampling the authentic food and enjoy experiencing a different culture.
